Lemon Thyme / Thymus Vulgaris

Lemon Thyme is a perennial plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. A hybrid species created from crossbreeding thyme and lemongrass, which has a strong lemon flavor. This culinary herb is used for seasoning meat, fish, stews and spreads, as well as flavoring bread. Lemon Thyme is also used in various herbal infusions for its dominating lemony taste.
In popular medicine, the herb is used in the production of cough syrup made out of Lemon Thyme infusion, sugar and honey. A bath of Lemon Thyme branches is said to alleviate muscular pain. Lemon Thyme tea is known as a natural remedy for treating hangovers. In addition, it is recognized for regulating the digestive system and lowering fever.
